Our Story

Pulp & Thread is a bustling and diverse store that came about from my passion for all things healthy & delicious. What began as a hobby, supplying vegan, raw cakes and GF brownies to other cafes in the Barossa, slowly turned in to an idea to open my own store.

With the last of my three children headed off to school, and decades of experience under my belt in many fields, it was timely, and the perfect opportunity when a small shop front become available, next to my stockist, Fleur Social to go out on my own. I felt the opportunity to cook & supply from this location whilst running my own little shop was perfect.

After having grown up in the Barossa Valley, then living in Port Douglas for a few years in my mid 20s, living on delicious fresh juice and smoothies was a ritual, then continuing this lifestyle with our family at home, I thought why not produce healthy GF smoothies for my customers? Followed by an idea to produce a weekly lunch special that was GF and healthy, all takeaway of course, due to space limitations!

A serious love of fashion, then led to introducing some clothing to the shop front, just to add some diversity for our customer. Over the last few years we have been able to slowly source some labels we really love that are not already represented in the region.

After 3 years in Nuriootpa in our tiny space where we thrived but definitely outgrew, we now live amongst some legendary stores in Tanunda, all run and owned by women in. Its quite the hub, vibrant, bustling, fun and complimentary of each other, all offering different things, all beautiful.

With a new tourist trade, the time to add an online store to our successful brick and mortar store was needed. We are now excited to share with you some of our store online!

With an amazing team, that has grown to eight young women, all creative, hard working and independent, it is my absolute joy to see my staff grow and transform into Queens! We are lucky enough to have an in house artist who creates our cards, a model, uni and high school students, netballers, all bringing something different, all great.

Everyone knows Prue in store, my rock since the first day, and dear friend. Prue mainly does the food side , but is extremely diverse jumping in where needed, having had decades of experience in all fields, not to mention is a avid actor and singer out of work. The diversity of personalities and talent of our staff truly correlates with the store.

When you shop with us online, you are supporting the local Barossa economy, Aussie labels, our staff families and young girls earning an income whilst studying. Thank you for supporting small business.
